Will Star, April 2026
Born in 1982 in Hauppauge, Long Island, Will Star is a multidisciplinary visual storyteller and director who has been documenting the pulse of New York City since 2002. Currently residing in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Will’s journey began at NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where he balanced the study of art and technology. It was here that he developed his sharp observational eye, traversing Manhattan with a borrowed digital camera to capture the city's fleeting interstices.
By 2009, Will had settled in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, where he became fascinated by the neighborhood’s rapid cultural evolution. This era marked a pivotal shift in his practice as he embraced the discipline and tactile nature of film photography. His street photography has since been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Brooklyn and Manhattan. Notably, his piece "Sunbather" was acquired by the Museum of the City of New York for their permanent collection, and his work was selected for Leica’s prestigious art photography book, Myself.
Beyond the still image, Will has established himself in the world of commercial photography and video production. As a Director and Producer, he has helmed campaigns for global brands including Amazon, Delta Airlines, Ring, and Prolon, translating his street-honed aesthetic into polished, high-impact brand narratives. This commercial success runs parallel to his tenure as the founder of Shooting Stars Pro, a full-service production company specializing in corporate media, portraiture, and event documentation.
Will’s creative rhythm is deeply influenced by his roots in the New York music scene. From 2000 through 2015, he was a professional DJ in NYC; while he still dabbles at the decks at home, that same sonic energy flows through his visual edits. When he isn't behind a lens or a monitor, Will can likely be found at a local pool table, perfecting his game with the same precision he brings to his art.
